Terry & Shar Barnes, Owners of Barnes Care:
We felt it was important to let you know how very
lucky, really blessed we feel we are to have our
father, Edward Ettinger, live at the Barnes Care
Assisted Living facility in Esko. The staff watches
over him with such compassionate care that they can
recognize his personality and physical changes
related to medications or illnesses and then helps
us deal with
whatever those needs are. He has physical
limitations that require more personal attention and
he gets it from the wonderful, intelligent, skilled
staff you have put together. Dad has a nickname for
each of them and they in turn have come to share
bits of their lives with him, truly make it a
home.... Beyond the basic cares, Emily takes him for
rides outside or to visit other clients, Chris
followed protocol and watch liked a hawk when his
leg bag looked "wrong" (and she was so right!) and
Karla has such phenomenal caregiver and people
skills. He is being treated like a unique individual
and we all (including dad) appreciate that. We thank
you for your continued kindnesses and capacity to
care. We truly believe there is no other place he
could receive the kind of care he gets with you.
From our hearts gratefully,
Terry, Sharlane, family and staff:
Thank you so much for coming to Kenny's service and
for your generous gift. We all appreciated the care
and love that Gordy received while staying in your
assisted living home. Kenny felt much better knowing
that his dad was well cared for.

And for the loving care you gave to our Mom while
she was with you, even thought it wasn't for very
long. We always knew she was in very good hands. It

Before mom died you lovingly moved her to a hospital
bed, arranged her room for family to be there,
providing snacks, juice and water, bought a cheery
flower bouquet and cards signed by all the staff.
THANK YOU! We picked the best home for our mom to
complete her life on this earth. Last, thanks for
taking the time to come to mom's funeral and social.

We would like to thank Barnes Care of Esko, MN for
the wonderful care our husband and father received
during his several year stay there. The warm family
surroundings made him and our family feel very
comfortable, just like being at home. We would
recommend Barnes Care to anyone in need of a great
place for their loved ones care.
In great appreciation the Family of Erwin Erickson
To all of the staff at Barnes Care - Thank you so
much for taking such beautiful care of our Mom. This
is the letter I sent to family and friends:
Just wanted to send a brief update to let you know
that our MOM, Shirley Williams, has moved to a
different location. After approximately one year at
Adult Foster Care, we felt her needs would be better
met in a different setting. After much research, we
chose Barnes Care Assisted Living in Esko, MN. It's
a bit further away ( just a few miles), but seems to
be a much better fit for Mom. We moved her in on
Monday, July 24th, and Mom settled in quite quickly.
The staff there treats her with the utmost respect.
They all seem to love her, we've not seen her smile
this much for some time. I've enclosed a copy of a
water color painting she did with the art therapist
her first week there. She's done many more since!
It's an absolutely beautiful setting, and Mom's
"heavenly blue" room faces the beautiful woods
behind the facility. The staff is warm and welcoming
to us when we visit. Last week, I happened to be
there when a music therapist was there. Mom
surprised me when she sang along to "Let me Call You
Sweetheart"! She remembered most of the words! Today
when Mathew and I visited Grandma Williams, she'd had
a manicure and had tiny flowers painted on her
nails! I'm thinking it's first manicure she's had in
her 82 years!! AND she won socks and a calendar
playing bingo this morning.
We're so grateful for the loving care she's
receiving there. Her short term memory is pretty
much gone, but she seems to especially remember her
childhood years. It's fun to look through old photos
with her. She enjoys visitors and phone calls
tremendously, so please don't hesitate to stop in or
call her. From 11am-4pm are probably her best hours.
as she gets anxious in the evenings. And as we all
know, she's not a morning person!!
